Salim Ali, known as the Bird Man of India, was an Indian expert on birds and nature. His interest in studying birds started when he was 10 years old after he accidentally shot a sparrow.

ભારતના બર્જમેન તરીકે જાણીતા , સલીમ અલી પક્ષીઓ અને પ્રક ૃ સતના ભારતીય સનષ્ણાત હતા . તેઓ 10 વર્જના હતા ત્યારે પક્ષીઓના અભ્યાસમાં તેમને રસ પર્યો હતો , જ્યારે તેમણે અકસ્માતે એક ચકલીને ગોળી મારી દીધી હતી .

He had many questions about birds, so he met W. S. Williard, a bird expert from the Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS), who inspired him deeply. Even though he was trained, Salim Ali could not get a job in any museum or institute. So, he chose to work independently, creating maps that showed where different birds lived in India. He travelled around India, studying birds and writing down what he learned in books and guides. He helped save important institutions like BNHS and protected bird areas like the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary. તેમને પક્ષીઓ સવર્ે ઘણા પ્રશ્નો હતા , તેથી તેઓ બોમ્બે નેચરલ સહસ્ટર ી સોસાયટી ( BNHS) ના પક્ષી સનષ્ણાત , ર્બલ્ય . એસ . સવસલયાર્જને મળ્યા , ર્ેમણે તેમને ખૂબ પ્રેરણા આપી . તાલીમ પામેલા હોવા છતાં , સલીમ અલીને કોઈ સંગ્રહાલય કે સંસ્થામાં નોકરી મળી ન હતી . તેથી , તેમણે સ્વતંત્ર રીતે કામ કરવાન ં પસંદ કય ું , ભારતમાં સવસવધ પક્ષીઓ ક્ાં રહે છે તે દર્ાજવતા નકર્ાઓ તૈયાર કયાજ . તેમણે ભારતભરમાં પ્રવાસ કયો , પક્ષીઓનો અભ્યાસ કયો અને પ સ્તકો અને માગજદસર્જકાઓમાં ર્ે ર્ીખ્યા તે લખ્ય ં . તેમણે BNHS ર્ેવી મહત્વપૂણજ સંસ્થાઓને સંરક્ષણમાં અને ભરતપ ર પક્ષી અભયારણ્ય ( સૅન્ક્ચ્ય અરી ) ર્ેવા પક્ષી સવસ્તારોન ં રક્ષણ કરવામાં મદદ કરી .

One of his greatest works, The Handbook of the Birds of India and Pakistan, was created with Dillon Ripley and became very important in bird studies. Salim Ali's books, such as Book of Indian Birds and The Birds of Kerala, made bird study popular in India. These books were also translated into local languages so more people could learn about birds.
